PFS to co-produce news-style TV programme

The Personal Finance Society (PFS) has announced it is to co-produce a news-style television programme with ITN Productions Industry News, titled Financial Wellbeing.

Launching in November 2020, the programme will form part of an extensive communications campaign featuring PFS members and professional partners, as well as journalists, writers, bloggers and relevant government departments.

The PFS suggested the programme, anchored by a national newsreader, will aim to create public confidence and trust in the personal finance profession, explore the key challenges and opportunities consumers face today and showcase how the profession has developed to meet the increasingly complex needs of the modern consumer.

The society added that experts in the field of financial planning from around the UK will be invited to share examples of advice, best practice and initiatives that equip consumers with the knowledge they need to improve their financial future.

PFS chief executive, Keith Richards, commented: “We are pleased to work with ITN Productions to produce an educational and informative programme about the value of consumers engaging in financial planning and their financial wellbeing.

“Financial advice is a career where individuals can make a real difference to people’s lives. I look forward to the programme premiering at the Festival of Financial Planning in November.”

The PFS added that Financial Wellbeing will focus on key areas of consumer confusion – including how to get suitable financial advice, retirement income options and how to recognise a scam.

The programme is also set to explore the financial education services and guidance offered to engage with individuals who are unable to afford or access professional financial advice.

Head of ITN Productions Industry News, Elizabeth Fisher-Robins, added: “We’re delighted to be partnering with the PFS to produce a programme raising awareness of the financial planning profession, bridging the financial advice gap and highlighting the consumer tools and techniques available to avoid the scam artists and make the right decisions.

“We hope the programme ultimately helps improve the UK’s financial wellbeing.”
