Mortgage Industry Mental Health Charter releases new report

The Mortgage Industry Mental Health Charter (MIMHC) has launched a new mental health and wellbeing report to coincide with Mental Health Awareness Week 2022.

Mental Health Awareness Week is running between 9 and 15 May in the UK.

The report explores individual’s current wellbeing and their experiences of working within the mortgage industry, alongside tracking mental health provision and support available within the industry.

According to the MIMHC, the objective of the report is to drive new signatories to the charter. New signatories commit to uphold six key pledges aimed at improving working conditions and opening up conversations about mental health best practice across the mortgage industry.

This year, the report’s findings highlighted that 46% of respondents to the research said there was no mental health strategy at all, or that they didn’t know of any within their business, while more than half of brokers (52%) said that their workplace mental health provision had not improved or that they didn’t know of any existing.

Furthermore, nearly a quarter of individuals (23%) said their mental health is “poor” or “of concern”, the research also revealed.

The MIMHC is the result of a collaboration between Crystal Specialist Finance, Coreco, Chartwell Mortgage Services, Landbay, The Brightstar Group, Knowledge Bank, SimplyBiz Mortgages.
