News in brief - 29 January 2026

Just Mortgages has strengthened its support for borrowers with complex and impaired credit with the launch of a dedicated adverse credit advice team. The new team is made up of 10 advisers offering support and tailored advice. It will operate alongside the client services divisions, support both new and existing borrowers dealing with credit blips, impaired credit and those in significant financial difficulty. The team has undergone extensive training centred on empathy, wellbeing and customer vulnerability, ensuring they approach every case with insight, care and an understanding of the individual’s characteristics and wider circumstances.

Hampshire Trust Bank (HTB) has appointed Jake Sweeney as lending director on its development finance team and has announced a number of senior promotions. He joined the bank from Goldentree Financial Services, where he spent almost a decade working across residential-led development projects. Sweeney will be based in the North West, supporting developers and their advisers across the region while also working with contacts nationwide. Alongside his appointment, HTB has promoted Joseph Gibson to lending manager, with Andrew Dignum and Sarah Dix promoted to senior lending director roles. Abbie Mace will also take up a new role as operations and data analyst from 1 March.

Selina Finance has introduced the option of no-valuation products by launching an integration with Hometrack in its broker panel and via its broker API. The upgrade gives brokers instant access to Hometrack's AVMs at no cost to either the broker or borrower. Hometrack supplies property data and analytics to banks, building societies and specialist lenders. Key benefits for brokers through the integration include clarity at application, faster processing, lower costs and more flexibility. Brokers will also see straight away when a Hometrack AVM is not eligible, ensuring clear expectations form the start. If a broker or client wishes to use a different figure, there is still the option to move to a drive by or full RICS valuation.
