Family Building Society elects new chairman

Family Building Society has announced that Simon Wainwright is to become the new chairman of its board.

Board members elected Wainwright at the society’s latest annual general meeting yesterday (24 April), following Rodger Hughes’ decision to step down from the position after 11 years.

Wainwright joined Family Building Society as a non-executive director in 2015 and has over 40 years’ experience in both the mutual and publicly quoted banking and insurance sectors.

He commented: “The society has built a successful reputation of lending to borrowers who are underserved by the big players in the mortgage market and also of supporting intermediaries in their vital contribution to these and other overlooked borrowers.”

The society’s CEO, Mark Bogard, added: “Simon has made a significant contribution to the development of the society which has grown considerably since he joined the board. We now have over 63,000 members and £2.5bn of assets.

“We are pleased that Simon has been elected as our new chairman and we thank Rodger Hughes who he succeeds, who steps down after 11 successful years.”
