News in brief - 29 February 2024

SortRefer has announced the launch of its 2024 programme of regional events, which are aimed at promoting the professional development of mortgage intermediaries across the industry. The firm is hoping to build on the success of last year’s events programme, looking to reach a broader spectrum of professionals across more regional areas. One event is scheduled to take place in each region every quarter, featuring a range of topic and discussions, as well as providing insights into industry trends, best practices and emerging opportunities. Attendees can expect interactive sessions hosted by industry experts, alongside participation from other business development managers and suppliers within the mortgage industry. The first event will take place in Llanelli on Friday 1 March and is hosted by Tom Hale.

Royal London has announced the appointment of Peter Josse as its new group chief operating officer. He brings over 20 years’ experience in the banking industry to the role, having held a number of senior leadership positions across operations, change management and technology. Josse joins from Barclays Bank, where he has served as chief information officer since 2018. He will join the life, pensions and investment mutual on 4 March, and will report to the group chief executive officer, Barry O’Dwyer.

Aviva Investors has announced the appointment of Michael Leonard as head of insurance solutions. He joins the firm with over 25 years’ experience in investment management, most recently as a portfolio solutions manager for the UK and European insurer investment clients at Schroders from 2019. Prior to this, Leonard was head of investment at LV=, where he led the development of investment strategies including tactical asset allocation, liability driven investment and risk-adjusted return enhancements. He will be based in London and will report to head of investment solutions at Aviva Investors, Cyril Martin.
