News in brief - 18 February 2025

Castle Trust Bank has strengthened its bridging proposition with a number of enhancements. As part of the improvements, the bank has restructured its operations to introduce a bridging underwriting team and has appointed Jackie Merrigan as senior underwriter and Simon Rogerson as an underwriter. In addition to enhancing its underwriting team, Castle Trust Bank has appointed Tyrone Alexander as a business development manager for London. The bank said that he brings "extensive industry experience" and will work alongside the firm’s regional account manager, Sammi Gilbank.

Fleet Mortgages has launched a range of two-year trackers across its three core propositions. The products are available up to 75% LTV for both purchase and remortgage across the lender’s standard, limited company and HMO/MUFB landlords. Standard and limited company products are priced at bank base rate (BBR) plus 0.49%, which currently sits at 4.99%, while HMO/MUB products start at BBR plus 0.89% and currently start from 5.39%. The standard and limited company products come with a free valuation and a booking fee of £199.

Martin Taphouse has been appointed as chief operating officer at LSL Financial Services, starting in the new role on 10 March. He joins the firm from Zurich, where he has served as head of business transformation for the last four years. Prior to this role, Taphouse was involved in developing, launching and running Zurich’s wealth business, where he led broker support and customer operations, building a technology and service model.
