Date for stress test results revealed by Bank of England

The Bank of England (BoE) has announced that it will publish its UK annual stress test results on 10 December 2019.

In March earlier this year, the BoE published details of the 2019 annual cyclical scenario (ACS) for the seven major UK banks and building societies – Barclays, HSBC, Lloyds Banking Group, Nationwide Building Society, The Royal Bank of Scotland Group, Santander UK and Standard Chartered – and this publication was agreed by the Financial Policy Committee (FPC) and Prudential Regulation Committee (PRC).

The ACS assessed the UK banking system and its resilience to recessions in both the UK and global economies, but while it investigated a separate stress of misconduct costs, the stress included in the 2019 ACS was not a forecast.

Having received initial stress testing submissions, the BoE has revealed it is in the process of analysing the results and the full annual stress results will be published, along with the Financial Stability Report, on 10 December 2019.

The BoE indicated that no results for individual firms will be published prior to this date.
