News in brief - 30 September 2026

LiveMore has launched a series of changes designed to give borrowers the ability to make more frequent overpayments on equity release mortgages, as well as greater flexibility around LTVs across its entire product range.

As a result, equity release customers can now make an unlimited number of overpayments within their early repayment charge allowance, typically up to 10% per annum. The minimum payment amount has been reduced from £200 to £25.

The lender has also introduced an ‘age next birthday’ capability into its proposition, allowing borrowing to be assessed using a customer’s next birthday where their birthday falls within 60 days.

Anthony Murphy has been appointed as an independent non-executive director at Vernon Building Society.

The experienced financial services executive brings more than 25 years’ experience to the role, having held senior roles at Lloyds Banking Group, United Arab Bank and Tandem Bank. Most recently, he was CFO at Notting Building Society from 2023 to May 2026, and joined the Vernon board earlier this month.

He will become chair of the society’s audit committee from January 2027.
