News in brief - 23 September 2026

365 Finance has appointed George Visser as its new chief risk officer.

He joins the specialist SME lender after 11 years at Bayport Financial Services Group, where he rose from being a financial modeller to head of commercial analytics and then group credit executive.

Visser will now lead 365 Finance’s risk function, overseeing credit risk strategy, portfolio and impairment modelling and underwriting policy.

Saffron for Intermediaries has announced a series of enhancements to its specialist buy-to-let and residential propositions.

Under the updates, Saffron has expanded its buy-to-let proposition with new expat HMO products, including large expat HMO options, and has also removed the requirement for expat landlords to appoint a UK solicitor.

Furthermore, the mutual has also enhanced its residential criteria to support borrowers moving into a new role. Pending new salaries can now be used for affordability assessments, excluding retirement interest-only mortgages, provided borrowers have a signed employment contract and start their new role before mortgage completion.

GB Bank has relaunched its commercial lending proposition, offering relationship-led approach and flexible funding solutions for investors purchasing or refinancing income-generating commercial properties.

The refreshed proposition is aimed at professional property investors, and the firm has increased its maximum loan size from £20m up to £25m, providing more flexibility for clients.

The bank will consider a range of commercial investment assets up to 65% LTV, including retail units, office buildings and mixed-tenancy properties. The proposition is available to individuals, limited companies, special purpose vehicles and trusts.
