News in brief - 14 August 2026

Castle Trust Bank has announced the first in a series of enhancements to its bridging proposition, including new products, reduced pricing, a valuation fee incentive and further process improvements designed to help brokers and their clients move quickly.

The lender has introduced new light refurbishment sale exit products, providing more choice for property investors carrying out refurbishment projects where the planned exit is the sale of the property.

It has also reduced pricing across selected light and heavy refurbishment products, and has introduced a valuation fee refund of up to £750 on completion for eligible light refurbishment products.

Atom bank has reduced rates across both its prime and near prime mortgage ranges.

All prime rates have been reduced by 0.20%, while rates on the near prime range have dropped by 0.10%. As a result, prime deals now start at 5.29% with a £900 fee, with near prime rates starting from 5.29% with a £1,995 fee.

It comes the bank recently enhanced its near prime proposition to include a range of 95% LTV products.

ModaMortgages has cut rates by 10 bps across its limited edition five-year fixed rate buy-to-let range.

The reduction means the specialist lender’s five-year products, which feature no application valuation fees, now start from 5.04% for single dwelling properties and 5.14% for HMO/MUFB properties with up to six bedrooms or units.

The products are available to individual and limited company landlords up to 80% LTV, with a choice of fee options.
