Shackleton Advisers acquires Argentis Group

Shackleton Advisers has acquired Argentis Group, formerly known as the Hurst Point Group, after receiving regulatory approval from the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).

The financial planning and wealth management firm said the transaction was its largest acquisition to date, although the financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

As part of the transaction, Argentis Group’s existing majority shareholder, Carlyle, has become a minority investor in Shackleton alongside funds managed by Lee Equity Partners, which became Shackleton’s majority shareholder in November 2025.

Argentis Group’s financial planning businesses, Argentis Wealth Management, Metis Wealth, and Active Financial Partners, have been rebranded to Shackleton, with each entity adopting Shackleton as its trading name.

Meanwhile, its investment management businesses, Gore Brown Investment Management and Hawksmoor Investment Management, will retain their existing brands as standalone discretionary investment management firms, alongside Shackleton’s core proposition as a financial advice provider.

Shackleton said there would be no changes to the services provided to clients of the expanded Shackleton Group, or the people they deal with and teams that support them.

Andrew Fisher and Paul Feeney will continue to serve as non-executive chair and chief executive officer, respectively, of the combined business.

Argentis Group chief executive officer, Andrew Westenberger, has joined Shackleton’s Executive Committee, reporting to Feeney, to support the integration process.

Evercore acted as merger and acquisition (M&A) adviser to Shackleton, while Proskauer Rose provided the firm with legal advice.

Argentis Group was advised by Rothschild & Co (M&A) and Linklaters (legal).

“We have a genuinely distinctive view of what a client-centric financial planning and wealth management business should be in 2026,” said Fisher.

“It is clear that clients are recognising both the value of the highly personalised professional advice we offer, and the service excellence we are committed to delivering.

“Today’s announcement means that we can make our vision of fair and affordable advice available in even more communities.”

Feeney added: “I am delighted to welcome Argentis Group clients and colleagues to Shackleton.

“When we launched Shackleton as a unifying business and brand in 2024, we committed to building a single, values-based, nationwide financial advice firm.

“The acquisition of Argentis Group marks a very significant step forward for us, in pursuit of this goal, as we continue to build Britain’s financial adviser.”
